Dr. Soto’s work focuses on advancing global oncology through clinical practice, education, and global collaboration. Alvaro is an oncologist at the Brown University Health Cancer Institute and an assistant professor of medicine at The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University.
Alvaro received a medical degree from the Instituto Tecnologico de Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic and completed his internal medicine residency at Jacobi Medical Center/ Albert Einstein College of Medicine and a hematology and oncology fellowship at the Carole and Ray Neag Comprehensive Cancer Center/ University of Connecticut, where he served as chief fellow and a Fellow Lead of the Global Oncology and Disparities of Care (GODOC) program. Today he serves on the GODOC planning committee, sharing his expertise and passion for Global Oncology.
He recently represented the GODOC program as an ONCares Scholar at the 2025 International Cancer Education Conference.
