Public Health Specialist and Health Services Researcher
Ilir Hoxha is a public health specialist and health services researcher with increasing interest in medical oncology. His research spans how health-system structures and financial incentives shape clinical practice, barriers to timely diagnosis and treatment, quality-of-care assessment, and the development of evidence-based strategies to strengthen service delivery. In recent years, he has expanded his portfolio into oncology-focused prevention, risk prediction, and the application of lifestyle-based models to cancer outcomes and survivorship. His research has been published in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, BMJ Open, the European Journal of Public Health, Health and Human Rights, Hematology/Oncology Clinics, and the Journal of Clinical Oncology.
He holds teaching affiliations with the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth and Heimerer College in Prishtina. Working with colleagues from Dartmouth and international partners, he has contributed to a Global Oncology Program that provides oncology training to participants from around the world.
In 2018, he founded Lifestylediagnostix to advance lifestyle-based disease prediction tools, including applications relevant to cancer risk and prognosis. In 2020, he founded the Evidence Synthesis Group, where they perform evidence syntheses and original research across multiple domains, including oncology, cancer screening, treatment effectiveness, and quality-improvement interventions.
Hoxha holds an MD from the University of Prishtina, an MSc in Health Systems Management from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, and a PhD in Public Health from the University of Bern. He completed a residency in public health at the National Institute of Public Health of Kosovo and was a Fulbright Research Fellow at The Dartmouth Institute for Health Policy and Clinical Practice.
